Participation in elections

Note:

  1. The results of the participation in the elections refer to the National Liberal Party (Mircea Rusu), to the Socio-political movement "For Order and Justice" (Veaceslav Untila) which together established in 2001 the Socio-Liberal Union "The Force of Moldova ("Forta Moldovei"); to the Party of Rebirth and Reconciliation of Moldova (Mircea Snegur) and to the National Peasants' Christian-Democratic Party (Valeriu Muravschi), last three were among the co-founders of the Liberal Party.
  2. Socio-liberal Union "The Force of Moldova ("Forta Moldovei") didn't participate in elections.

1994 parliamentary elections

In the parliamentary elections of February 27, 1994 National Liberal Party run jointly to the electoral bloc "The Bloc of Peasants' and Intelligentsia", which was cast 163,513 votes (9.21%).

1995 local elections

In general local elections of April 16, 1995 National Liberal Party run jointly with electoral bloc "Alliance of Democratic Forces", which gathered:

  • 252 mandates in the rayonal and municipal councils (19.67%);
  • 2,333 mandates in city and village councils (21.43%);
  • 83 mayor mandates in cities and villages (15.93%).

Christian Democratic Peasants' Party, later National Peasants' Christian Democratic Party, was the part of the same bloc - "Alliance of Democratic Forces" electoral bloc.

1996 presidential elections

    First round (November 17)

    Mircea Snegur, leader of the Party of Rebirth and Conciliation of Moldova was cast 603,652 votes (38.75%), as compared to the 430,836 votes (27.66%) cast in favor of the second candidate, Petru Lucinschi.

    Second round (December 1)

    Mircea Snegur was cast 782,933 votes (45.98%), loosing thus in favor of Petru Lucinschi with 919,831 votes, i.e. 54.02%.

1998 parliamentary elections

The Liberal Party of Moldova (headed by Ion Borsevici) together with the National Liberal Party (Andrei Iuri-Apostol) and National Peasants' Party of Moldova (Semion Certan) established "Alliance of Democratic Forces" electoral bloc, which gathered in the parliamentary elections of March 22, 1998 36,344 valid votes (2.24%).

Christian Democratic Peasants' Party participated in the elections within electoral bloc "Democratic Convention of Moldova", which gathered 315,206 votes (19.42%). Thus electoral bloc "Democratic Convention of Moldova" received 26 mandates in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.

The Party of Rebirth and Reconciliation of Moldova participated in the parliamentary elections 1998 within electoral bloc "Democratic Convention of Moldova"

1999 general local elections

In the general local elections of May 23 the National Liberal Party won:

  • 11 mandates (3.53%) in the county and Chisinau Municipality councils;
  • 227 mandates (3.72%) in the village, city and municipal councils;
  • 21 mandates (3.34%) of commune, cities and municipality mayors.

Christian-Democratic National Peasants' Party headed by Valeriu Muravschi won:

  • 4 mandates (1.28%) in the county councils;
  • 102 mandates (1.67%) in the village, city and municipal councils;
  • 13 mandates (2.07%) of commune, cities and municipality mayors.

The Party of Rebirth and Reconciliation of Moldova took part in the general local elections held on May 23, 1999 within the "Democratic Convention of Moldova" electoral bloc, which won:

  • 42 mandates (13.46%) in the county Chisinau Municipality councils;
  • 859 mandates (14.07%) in the village, city and municipal councils.

In addition, 86 candidates (13.83%) running on the "Democratic Convention" list were elected mayors in communes, cities and municipalities.

2001 parliamentary elections

In the parliamentary elections of February 25 the National Liberal Party was cast 44,548, i.e. 2.81% of the total valid votes.

National Peasants' Christian Democratic Party won 27,575 votes (1.74%).

The Party of Rebirth and Reconciliation of Moldova was cast 91,894 votes (5.79%), lacking 0.21% to pass the 6% threshold of representation.

The socio-political movement "For Order and Justice" gathered 23,099, or 1.46% of the valid votes cast.

2003 general local elections

LP participated in the local elections 2003 within the electoral bloc "Alliance Social-Liberal Moldova Noastra" which won:

  • 227 mandates in the rayonal and municipal councils (20.16%);
  • 2,402 mandates in city and village councils (22.16%);
  • 191 mayor mandates (21.27%).
